The initial consultation will last approximately ninety minutes. It will include an Ayurvedic pulse reading and a tongue diagnosis to ascertain the individual’s state of mind, body and spirit. Ayurveda believes that mind, body and emotional health are interrelated and therefore these elements are assessed in tandem.
In addition to the pulse reading and tongue diagnosis, a detailed personal history will be taken to ascertain primary health concerns. The individual’s current diet and lifestyle will also be reviewed to identify specific areas that may lead to “vikriti” or “dosa” imbalances. To address imbalances, a customised program will be suggested incorporating diet and lifestyle changes, the prescription of individualised Ayurvedic herbs and other Ayurvedic treatment modalities such as cleansing and daily routines.
A sixty-minute follow up consultation, two to three weeks after the initial consultation, will be suggested to assess progress on the treatment plan and maintain momentum.
It is recommended that no food be consumed for three hours prior to appointments to ensure as accurate a pulse reading as possible. Warm drinks and water can be consumed.
