Harshini grew up in Colombo, Sri Lanka - leaving in her late teens to attend university in Canada. During the more than two decades since leaving Sri Lanka, Harshini has lived, worked and studied in Toronto, New York and London. Harshini's family still lives in Colombo and she regularly returns home.
Harshini started practicing Iyengar yoga more than fifteen years ago while working in the corporate world as a marketing executive. However, over time, Harshini found that she was scheduling her corporate work life around months in India studying yoga with Swati and Rajiv Chanchani (senior Iyengar yoga teachers) - and she eventually decided to commence her Iyengar Teacher Training at the Iyengar Institute in Maida Vale, London, with Sallie Sullivan and Stephen Richardson. Harshini attained her Introductory Teaching Certificate in 2006 and Junior Intermediate Level 1 in 2012 and currently teaches several classes across London. Harshini is a member of the UK Iyengar Yoga Association.
Harshini has studied with the Iyengar family on three occasions in Pune, India - most recently in October 2013 - and has attended numerous conventions in London with BKS and Geeta Iyengar.
Harshini continues to attend weekly classes with Senior Iyengar Teachers. Harshini's teaching style is dynamic, focused, and passionate - based on her personal experience of Iyengar yoga, which has inspired her to transform her life and lead a more Vedic lifestyle.
In addition to her yoga teaching vocation, Harshini has trained as an Ayurvedic Medical Practitioner. Harshini has MSc and BSc degrees in Ayurvedic Medicine to complement her MBA and Honours Business Administration degrees.
She is married to a Canadian and has a daughter.
